Reagan and Chris Brinkley have new neighbors. They’re young, good-looking with “androgynous” haircuts, the husband Trent is Australian and they wear leather jackets to boot! The Brinkleys want to make a good impression on the new couple and show them that they are still as cool as they were before they were parents. Because who doesn’t want to be cool? Besides those people who strive no to be cool so people will think they are cool in a lame way. But I digress.
Leaving tequila on a neighbor’s front steps is a creepy/cool way to welcome them to the neighborhood because casserole is SO Leave It To Beaver. But then the neighbors invite Chris and Reagan to their home for a party. One which they can’t attend because they have no sitter. Elsewhere Ava is trying to understand why Amy doesn’t like her so she goes shopping with her assistant Missy (Jennifer Hall) to find the baby some gifts. Back at the Brinkley house the party goes into the night, Chris and Reagan debate on whether or not to call the police on the new neighbors due to the loud music keeping the baby awake. They ultimately decide to call. Then they decide to go to the party and pretend to have been there for hours so they can keep up their appearance as a “cool” couple. They invite Calvin (Nick Cannon) over to babysit.
After some brief interactions at the party the police arrive and inform the new neighbors that they are responding to a noise complaint. Trent asks the police that if they turn the music off will the neighbors allow the party to continue. The police call the number that called in the complaint and Chris’ cell phone rings. Awkward. But the cool neighbors are parents-to-be so they understand. After a moment of couple introspection Chris and Reagan realize they don’t NEED to be the coolest couple on the block.
