revenge recapping: reckoning

Previously on Revenge: Grief

This show never fails to surprise me…ever.

Emily ready for her prey

Emily stages a robbery and leads Daniel to believe that the robber was the White Haired Man and he took the evidence. Poor Daniel is too gullible to think anything else. No matter how hard he tries to be a Grayson, he never will be. He can’t stay one step ahead of anyone. Emily quickly finds out about Nolan’s plight and runs to his rescue.

That girl, always ten steps ahead has already planted a “free me from these chains device” more commonly know as a lock pick (maybe?), in her sweater. As creepy White Haired Man leaves to get the evidence, she frees herself and Nolan. He leaves to place the evidence in the right hands while Emily waits for her mouse. When her mouse returns, unprepared she attacks, but in the moment of truth she remembers a moment with her father and her resolve is lost. She lets the mouse live (that’s gonna haunt her) and leaves her father’s wishes fulfilled.

Daniel is trying to act like big man Grayson and get everything under wraps only to discover the one thing he thought he had under wraps had slipped between his fingers. Ashley tells him about the kiss between Jack and Emily. Though Jack is pretty pissed and upset Emily seems relieved. Now that she has fulfilled her revenge task, she can let Daniel go and be with the one she always wanted.

Conrad is planning his escape and trying to bribe Lydia to go with him, but Victoria has other plans. She and Lydia are going to be the key witnesses in the trial and Victoria will not let her slip away. Using her ridiculous powers of manipulation and persuasion she convinces Lydia that Conrad is a sinking ship and she would be unwise to board with him. Conrad is naturally upset and he takes this out on Victoria who sticks to her guns and tells Conrad she’ll see him in hell.

On a less interesting (to me anyway) note, Charlotte plots her own form of revenge against Declan’s new friend Jamie. She exposes a student teacher relationship Jamie had to the whole student body. Declan tells Charlotte never to speak to him again. This is why I love the Porters, they’re the show’s moral compass.

Lydia and the prosecutor board the plane

Back to the goods: Emily and Nolan are celebrating the completion of Emily’s mission. Nolan inquires about Jack and Emily tells Nolan that she will be telling Jack everything tonight. Unfortunately for Emily, fake Amanda (Fakemanda?), has shown up with a baby in her belly. Emily leaves the bar crying and doesn’t get to reveal the truth to Jack. When Nolan calls a shocked Emily he rushes to her side. Before he does, Emily sees that the plane carrying the prosecutor, Victoria, Lydia, and the evidence has gone down.

When Charlotte sees this she calls Declan who hangs up on her, then downs a bunch of pills. Try as he might, Conrad’s shaking won’t wake her up like trip to the ER and a good old fashioned stomach pump would. Emily however is dumbfounded, all her hard work gone to waste. Nolan reassures Emily, this bigger than her father and the Grayson’s and he has the evidence to prove it. Also, hold onto your hats, Emily’s mother is still alive. Dun, dun, dun….no but seriously how does this show continue to surprise us all (or maybe just me?).

Jack and Amanda

Predictions for next season

  • Victoria lives. If she doesn’t it will be a huge shocker, which this show is know for but still.
  • Charlotte lives, though it wouldn’t bother me a whole bunch if she didn’t. But for Emily’s sake I’d rather she did.
  • My big question: When will Emily reveal that she is Amanda? It seems somewhat pointless to keep the charade up, even if she does begin a new revenge plot.
  • Jack will make his way back to Emily even though Fakemanda is preggers.

Quotes

Nolan: “Do not do anything ‘revengy’ until I get there. Got it?”

Victoria: “I knew that your future with Daniel was as empty as that box.” [This was the moment I wanted Emily to reveal the truth and then punch her in the face].

Emily: “If I don’t make it out of this, tell Jack that I love him.”

Nolan: “If you came here to rescue me you might want a do-over.”
Kristen is a confused young adult who sometimes thinks TV shows are actually her life. Wouldn’t that be cool? Unless she was a victim on Dexter, or a deranged privileged teenager on gossip girl, or a wolf on teen wolf, or Liz Lemon! Never mind. It wouldn’t be cool. Kristen is a young adult.
