revenge recapping power

previously on revenge: revelations

Victoria has asked Emily to help her get Daniel back on the right path. Emily, ever the opportunist, agrees to this and attends a dinner party Victoria will be hosting. Emily’s next target Judge Barnes (played by Geoff Pierson) will be attending. Emily graciously accepts the offer. At the dinner, which she uses to reopen the door for Daniel, she confronts the Judge and his wife, Patricia Barnes (played by Clare Carey) about their participation in the David Clarke trial. Though the Judge seems resolved in his opinion the wife is shakier than a leaf. And when you let your weakness show, Emily will be sure to pounce. Later at a benefit, Emily confronts the Judge’s wife and gives her the strength she needs to tell the truth about her husband and the David Clarke trial. Oh how the mighty continue to fall.

Declan, Charlotte, JAck and the Ryan Brothers

brooding….are we doing it right?

Declan and Jack are now incredibly suspicious of the Ryan brothers. Declan seizes an opportunity to check out the new merchandise they are storing in the fridge and finds drugs. Declan and Jack plan to get them caught and arrested and out of their hair forever. Unfortunately for them, they’re amateurs when it comes to scheming. Their plan does not go according to plan, the police find the drugs on the boat and Jack gets arrested. Silly boys, you’re not ready to play with the men.

Predictions/Expecations

  • Now that Emily is becoming involved with Daniel again, even if it’s just for show, things will get tense with Aiden
  • The Ryan Brothers are only going to continue wreaking havoc on the stowaway boys
  • Victoria’s plan to get Daniel out from under the initiative’s thumb will fail

Quotes
Nolan: Well bros before hos only works if he’s not still in love with the ho, bro.

Patricia Barnes: The greater the power, the greater the potential for abuse.

Nolan: You two, a fake-up? Color me impressed.

revenge recapping: lineage and revelations

previously on revenge: penance

Lineage

Apparently Thanksgiving of 2006 was a rather eventful one for the whole Revenge gang. Victoria received a visit from her mother, Marion Harper, who was invited by an unsuspecting and naive Daniel. Turns out Victoria has a dark past and she most likely learned her scheming from her mother who had a young Victoria shoot a man she had just shot so she could avoid prosecution. Though her mother came for dinner, she ended up staying for her just desserts. The man Victoria’s mother had fallen in love with was apparently hired by Victoria to break her.

Emily and Aiden

you are so adorable when you’ve got your mission face on….

Emily, in midst of planning her revenge, was also carrying out a mission for Takeda. It’s on that mission that she meets two important people. Ashley, who she saves from prostitution and Aiden, who is taken in by Takeda and offered training.

NolCorp is going public, it’s exciting news, champagne for all. The celebration doesn’t last long unfortunately. Nolan’s CFO and lover, Marco Romero, discovers that the $500 million offshore account he opened at Nolan’s request has been emptied. Leading Marco to believe that Nolan just stole $500 million from the company. When Nolan tries to explain, Marco won’t hear a word of it. The two part ways.

Jack’s father, alive at this point, is acting suspicious. Jack, almost as naive as Daniel, seems to not read into it. But we can tell something is up. Joe Ryan is apparently terrorizing the businesses in the neighborhood. Jack tries to smooth things over by offering to pay, but, at the hand of Matt Duncan, Ryan takes a bullet and swims with the fishes. Jack’s father assists in the cover up.

Quotes

Nolan: There would be no company without David and I wasn’t about to screw over his daughter after everything that she’d been through. If you don’t get that then I don’t think we have a future together.

Aiden [to Emily]: You fought for me when no one else would.

Marian: Vindictive bitch.
Victoria: I learned from the best

Revelations

Daniel’s quest to take over Grayson Global is ruthless and to be honest, I can’t fully remember his initial motive. I’m sure he has one and it’s probably justified. Aiden and Emily are assisting in anyway they can, without Daniel’s knowledge of course. They watch as Conrad and Victoria do their best to thwart Daniel.

Amanda and Jack are having Carl christened and throwing a party with a cast of interesting characters as the guests. The Ryan brothers seem awfully interested in who will be going. And, as polite as Jack is, he is sure to extend an invite their way. That way they can weed through the crowd themselves. At the church, as Emily looks on lovingly and wonders if it could’ve been different, wonders is she could’ve been in Amanda’s place in a different world, in a different life, Matt Duncan, an old friend of Jack’s father and the man responsible for the Ryan brother’s father’s death, warns Jack against the Ryans. He takes the warning seriously, especially after Matt turns up beaten bloody right outside the restaurant.

Daniel, Conrad, Victoria

I know what you did to my poetry! It’s payback time

In an effort to get Daniel to lose his trust in Ashley, Emily shares a video of Emily and Conrad with Victoria, who uses it for her own purposes. She tries to get Ashley to seduce Salvador Grobet and persuade him to vote for Conrad to stay on as head of Grayson Global. The two are interrupted as Emily and Aiden work together quickly to ensure Daniel finds out and is given the rights to run Grayson Global, which now, thanks to Daniel, has 51% interest in NolCorp (bummer for Nolan, but he’ll make it right). Even as Conrad and Victoria worry over Daniel’s future, they know there is nothing to be done. They did their best to protect Daniel, now we’ll see if Aiden and Emily will do better.

Predictions/Expectations
Daniel will quickly start to sink and bring Aiden on to assist
Nolan’s new CFO and old CFO are gonna go head to head in a battle for the position and Nolan’s love
The Ryan brothers are only just getting started

Quotes
Emily: I’m not destroying lives, Amanda. I’m righting wrongs.

Conrad: Where did you get this?
Victoria: From whoever seems to be circling this family with an endless catalog of our sins.

revenge recapping: penance

Previously on Revenge: illusion

The Board, Victoria, Daniel

Don’t get confused, the devil’s in white.

Aiden and Daniel are still in full swing trying to get Grayson Global into Daniel’s hand. Aiden decides to step outside the box on this one and ask Nolan directly for the proof. With a little prompting and a reminder that this is his best shot at protecting Emily, Nolan hands over the proof. Daniel and Aiden work fast, as Ashley keeps Conrad distracted by the event Daniel pitches his leadership to the board and one member of the initiative who probably shouldn’t even be there. We don’t know the exact outcome, but we can assume that with the punch he was packing, the board will likely pass to Daniel…and The Initiative will have stake in NolCorp.

Conrad and Victoria are becoming more and more unified as of late. They are both terrified of what The Initiative is going to do and though they may not be able to stop them, have decided to try and take their former allies and now adversaries down with them. When Mason confesses all to Cara, she goes after Victor and Conrad and in what they think are their last moments they grab each other’s hands. Luckily for them Aiden grabs Cara out of the room and he and Emily send her away.

Mason Treadwell

Emily may have screwed me over, but I’ll come out on top…..

As Treadwell continues to sift through the wreckage and  figure out Amanda and Emily’s connection he continues to dig his own grave. He confronts Emily with his version of the truth, that Emily and Amanda were lovers at Allenwood and Amanda has pulled Emily into this journey. Emily doesn’t scare too easily with Mason’s story, but Amanda sure does. After panicking to Emily, who tells her to stand down. Amanda starts a plan of her own and goes to Mason Treadwell’s house to tell him the truth. But she’s ready to kill him. Emily catches wind of what Amanda’s about to do just in time and then confesses everything to Mason, enlisting his help to get her mother out of town. Mason, naturally, screws it all up in favor of clearing his own guilt, but he gets his in the end. Emily frames him for Gordon Murphy’s murder and tells him to take the fault in exchange for full exoneration and the chance to write her story when it’s all over.

When Emily returns from her visit with Mason, Aiden is waiting for her. His concern prompts Emily to throw herself in his arms, finally.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Aiden and Emily will start working together against the Initiative, while Emily puts her revenge on the backburner…kind of.
  • Daniel will take over Grayson Global and the Initiative will salivate over the power NolCorp now give them

Quotes
Nolan: “You might have mentioned that Hey Nolan, this one time at Revenge Camp, I met this fellow avenger, and guess where he’s going to be summering?””

Emily: “As much as we both enjoy the sound of your voice, Mason, why don’t you just get to the point?”

revenge recapping: forgiveness/illusion

Previously on Revenge: Intuition

Forgiveness

So Kara, Amanda’s mom, is kind of weird. And by ‘kind of’ I mean totally and by ‘weird’ I mean psycho. After falling into Aiden’s open arms upon remembering the truth, Emily’s first reaction was, rightfully, bitch has gotta go. Though still worried about Amanda’s recovery, Emily is more worried that her mother might mistakenly kill her. Which would be no good.

Kara and Victoria

i’m surprised those roses don’t wither and die upon your touch

Amanda/Emily’s mom and resident psycho visits Victoria, greeting her with a hug that had me thinking “WTF?!” Victoria invites her to a sleepover at the Grayson’s humble abode, how thoughtful. Her ulterior motive? Find out how this woman is still alive. Oh hey, I know that one!  White Haired Man Gordon was in love with her. GASP! Kara, however seems to be set on making amends with Amanda, who is told by Emily to send her mother packing. But she can’t. Kara’s heartfelt speech about forgiveness has Amanda saying the words Emily can’t. And Kara will live to see another episode.

Kara, Mason, Emily

oh good, my psycho mom and that nosy reporter talking, just what I need

In the other sides of this episode, Padma is investigating David Clarke’s connection to Nolcorp, still not sure of her motive. And our favorite expose journalist, Mason Treadwell, has returned. Curious, naturally, about Kara Clarke’s return from the dead. Jack takes on a partner for the stowaway. And big shocker, in order to get out of testifying against each other, Conrad and Victoria agree to get married….again.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Kara will go apeshit on somebody.
  • Still banking on Emily and Aiden starting something
  • Padma’s investigation isn’t over just yet
  • Mason’s return will do some damage

Quotes

Nolan: “I know I’ve been AWOL, but I just became an uncle. Well, one of those non-uncle uncles, like Kracker or Fester.”

Kara: “So smart to build it right on the ocean, you can see your enemies coming.”

Illusion

if i stop smiling, they won’t buy it

Mason is digging for dirt and, well, come damn near close to getting a hand full of gold. Amanda and Emily begin to go over details that Mason will use to confuse Amanda and get the truth out. The discuss the scar which Mason is so interested in. But you just know that, like a dog with a bone, Mason is not gonna let this hunch go.

Padma’s investigation has given Daniel an idea and with the help of Aiden, who I think is just pretending, but its impossible to tell. Daniel hoping to gain control of Nolcorp by finding the connection between David Clarke and Nolan’s company. So far, not much has come of it, but you know that this is bound to turn into something more.

Victoria and Conrad’s wedding was a beautiful, loving, and peaceful affair that had everyone swooning. Oh I’m sorry, this is Revenge, not a chick flick. Obviously the wedding couldn’t go off without a hitch. And that hitch came in the form of Conrad’s arrest for the murder of Gordon Murphy, which he was framed for by the lovely revengetress herself, Emily Thorne. Despite the hard evidence, Conrad is released, so long as he agrees to help The Initiative with their next task. Hold onto to your seats, this task is still to come.

In other news, Jack, who two episodes ago wanted nothing to do with Amanda, got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes, of course. That’s sure to implode shortly. Declan and Charlotte are back together, cause it worked out so well the first time. And….Mason Treadwell, with his bone clenched tightly between his teeth, has developed a hunch about how Emily Thorne fits into the web.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Mason won’t get to spread his discovery too far before he’s eliminated.
  • Aiden and Emily will discover what Conrad/The Initiative is up to
  • Aiden and Emily will finally do it…pretty please?

Quotes

Emily: “If we choose to, we can live in a world of comforting illusions. We can allow ourselves to be deceived by self-realities. Or we can use them to hide our true intentions.”

revenge recapping: intuition

Previously on Revenge: Confidence

Emily knows her mother is alive and she confronts Aiden, because she knows he knew. Aiden again warns her not to mess with her past, because she may not like what she finds. Emily does not heed his warning.

Victoria

How did things get so bad? Oh, that’s right, I did this on purpose

With Jack no longer in the picture, Emily throws Amanda further into the Grayson web, asking her to prod Victoria until she cracks on the truth about Emily’s mother. But, as Emily should know by now, Amanda doesn’t always do things exactly as she is supposed to.

Aiden goes back to Kara in order to get more information. He tries to convince her that he can be trusted but Kara isn’t buying it. She tricks him, ties him up and leaves him while she takes off to find out what happened to the white-haired man.

Jack, Charlotte, Emily

What do you mean she’s not really pregnant?

At Amanda’s baby shower, so kindly thrown by Victoria, Amanda continues to try and get information from Victoria about Emily’s mother. Unfortunately for Amanda, Victoria isn’t telling her anything Emily wants to hear. The only information Victoria gives is that Emily’s mother tried to kill her when she was younger. In their exchange, Amanda, whose heels are far too high for someone who is pregnant, falls over the second floor landing. The baby is fine, but Amanda’s life still hangs in the balance.

Kara, while on the run, hears the news of Amanda Clarke’s fall on the news and rushes to Amanda’s side. Upon seeing her mother Emily has a flashback of Kara holding her underwater as a little girl. So Victoria spoke the truth.

We also learn that Declan’s little robbery and the way he was caught was somehow staged by Kenny Ryan (played by JR Bourne), the man he robbed, and his new friend Trey Chandler (played by Michael Nardelli). Those Porter boys have the worst luck!

The episode ends with Emily throwing a small emotional fit and collapsing into Aiden’s convenient arms.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Since Nolan’s new love interest has made the connection between Nolan and David Clarke we can definitely expect an investigation
  • Aiden and Emily will fall into a romance, slowly, but surely
  • Amanda will remain in a coma for just long enough, but eventually she’ll pull through
  • Kara’s presence will bring in a whole new mess of things, but Emily will keep mum about who she really is

Quotes

Nolan: “Only luddites use snail mail.”

Padma: “What can you tell me about a lawsuit Zingster.com brought against you in 2001?””
Nolan: “Ever hear of them?”
Padma: “No.”
Nolan: “That’s because they lost. End of story.”

Emily [to Amanda]: “Nice touch, bringing your girls from The Beaver Dam.”
