recapping revenge: victory/masquerade

Previously on Revenge: Illumination

Victory

Nolan and Aiden

It’s not what it looks like.

Ironically named since no one is really victorious in this episode. Padma makes contact with the initiative and sets up a drop off time. Nolan, Aiden and Emily are ready for the drop. But when the drop gets moved up Emily is busy deal with her stepbrother and can’t make it. Once the transfer as been made, Padma is kidnapped and Nolan and Aiden are left dumbfounded on the roof. They follow the tracking device they had give Padma only to find the initiative had been one step ahead of them all along. Nolan dives deep into trying to track down Padma only to find that his archenemies Falcon is working for the initiative.

Eli makes good on his promise to Emily all those years ago. He exposes their foster mother and all her treacherous ways and tries to retrieve they letters that Emily’s father wrote to her while she was staying there. He couldn’t do that, but he manages to discover where the letters might be. With that information in hand Emily visits Mason Treadwell in jail and discovers that Victoria has another son.

Quotes

Aiden: Can you stop breathing so heavily?
Nolan: I’m sorry to bother you Lee Harvey. I guess I just get a little nervous when I’m about to kill people.

Emily: In the art of war if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the approaching battles. But if you know only yourself and not your enemy, for every victory, there will also be defeat.

Masquerade

Victoria is throwing her annual masquerade, which had to be cancelled last year because of Daniel’s trial (as soon as she said that I was like WHOA that was a long time ago). An invitation which went to the campaign instead of Victoria was ominous and no doubt sent by Emily who has developed a plan to spook Victoria as far as her first born is concerned.

Victoria and Emily

Bitch, please. I get what I want.

Emily had not received an invitation to the affair and when she tries to solicit one is turned down. Her disappointment doesn’t last long since Daniel, who has recently figured out it was Victoria who sent the threatening message against Emily, invites her to go as his date. Victoria is a bit confused when Emily shows up, but she is put in her disappointed place quickly.

Aiden, meanwhile has discovered that Padma is dead and killed Trask himself. I wonder who the new initiative point person will be. With that out of the way Aiden is free to help Emily spook Victoria by wearing a surprising similar suit to a man who poses as the aforementioned abandoned child. Victoria takes Emily’s well-placed bait and heads to the convent where she was helped during her pregnancy. Emily then claims she too is a pregnant woman, unsure of what to do. I assume her efforts will bring her closer to the answer of what happened to Victoria’s other son.

Expectation/Predictions
Emily’s findings about Victoria’s son will be salacious and downright scandalous.
Jack will soon be discovered as the person foiling Conrad’s campaign OR Amanda will start to aid him.
Nolan in his grief for Padma will continue his search for Falcon, which will come to a head shortly.

Quotes
Emily: I’m not leaving you alone, Nolan.
Nolan: I love you, too.

Conrad: [to Victoria] And here I thought I knew all the skeletons in your closet by name.

Conrad: You are deceptively brilliant.
Ashley: I learned from the best.
Conrad: You meant Victoria, didn’t you?
Ashley: Yeah.

revenge recapping: forgiveness/illusion

Previously on Revenge: Intuition

Forgiveness

So Kara, Amanda’s mom, is kind of weird. And by ‘kind of’ I mean totally and by ‘weird’ I mean psycho. After falling into Aiden’s open arms upon remembering the truth, Emily’s first reaction was, rightfully, bitch has gotta go. Though still worried about Amanda’s recovery, Emily is more worried that her mother might mistakenly kill her. Which would be no good.

Kara and Victoria

i’m surprised those roses don’t wither and die upon your touch

Amanda/Emily’s mom and resident psycho visits Victoria, greeting her with a hug that had me thinking “WTF?!” Victoria invites her to a sleepover at the Grayson’s humble abode, how thoughtful. Her ulterior motive? Find out how this woman is still alive. Oh hey, I know that one!  White Haired Man Gordon was in love with her. GASP! Kara, however seems to be set on making amends with Amanda, who is told by Emily to send her mother packing. But she can’t. Kara’s heartfelt speech about forgiveness has Amanda saying the words Emily can’t. And Kara will live to see another episode.

Kara, Mason, Emily

oh good, my psycho mom and that nosy reporter talking, just what I need

In the other sides of this episode, Padma is investigating David Clarke’s connection to Nolcorp, still not sure of her motive. And our favorite expose journalist, Mason Treadwell, has returned. Curious, naturally, about Kara Clarke’s return from the dead. Jack takes on a partner for the stowaway. And big shocker, in order to get out of testifying against each other, Conrad and Victoria agree to get married….again.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Kara will go apeshit on somebody.
  • Still banking on Emily and Aiden starting something
  • Padma’s investigation isn’t over just yet
  • Mason’s return will do some damage

Quotes

Nolan: “I know I’ve been AWOL, but I just became an uncle. Well, one of those non-uncle uncles, like Kracker or Fester.”

Kara: “So smart to build it right on the ocean, you can see your enemies coming.”

Illusion

if i stop smiling, they won’t buy it

Mason is digging for dirt and, well, come damn near close to getting a hand full of gold. Amanda and Emily begin to go over details that Mason will use to confuse Amanda and get the truth out. The discuss the scar which Mason is so interested in. But you just know that, like a dog with a bone, Mason is not gonna let this hunch go.

Padma’s investigation has given Daniel an idea and with the help of Aiden, who I think is just pretending, but its impossible to tell. Daniel hoping to gain control of Nolcorp by finding the connection between David Clarke and Nolan’s company. So far, not much has come of it, but you know that this is bound to turn into something more.

Victoria and Conrad’s wedding was a beautiful, loving, and peaceful affair that had everyone swooning. Oh I’m sorry, this is Revenge, not a chick flick. Obviously the wedding couldn’t go off without a hitch. And that hitch came in the form of Conrad’s arrest for the murder of Gordon Murphy, which he was framed for by the lovely revengetress herself, Emily Thorne. Despite the hard evidence, Conrad is released, so long as he agrees to help The Initiative with their next task. Hold onto to your seats, this task is still to come.

In other news, Jack, who two episodes ago wanted nothing to do with Amanda, got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes, of course. That’s sure to implode shortly. Declan and Charlotte are back together, cause it worked out so well the first time. And….Mason Treadwell, with his bone clenched tightly between his teeth, has developed a hunch about how Emily Thorne fits into the web.

Predictions/Expectations

  • Mason won’t get to spread his discovery too far before he’s eliminated.
  • Aiden and Emily will discover what Conrad/The Initiative is up to
  • Aiden and Emily will finally do it…pretty please?

Quotes

Emily: “If we choose to, we can live in a world of comforting illusions. We can allow ourselves to be deceived by self-realities. Or we can use them to hide our true intentions.”

revenge recapping: doubt

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new episode so you may need to catch up, previously on Revenge: Scandal

Emily has been working overtime to try and figure out how she’s going to handle the new wrench in her plan. Takeda has Emily, so she’s secure for now. The Graysons are trying to figure out how to spin the story so Daniel goes free. They begin to point a finger towards Jack, which doesn’t sit well with Emily. She suggests enlisting Mason Treadwell’s help, to spin the story in their favor. But of course, knowing Emily, she’ll be spinning this in her favor, not the Graysons.

Emily and Victoria

Queen Victoria needs to send a message to Daniel. The message comes in the shape of a vicious beating that will get Daniel out of prison and under house arrest. Emily suspects the plot and follows Victoria to a shady bar where she pays off a shady character and receives a drink from a past lover. Mason Treadwell is sniffing out his story and the scent leads him to Jack Porter, who tells him to get lost. Declan agrees to offer Mason his story about what he saw on the beach, especially since Charlotte was  high on painkillers and is not a reliable witness. While Mason is writing his first blog post, a message pops up and tells him to look in the bottom drawer. When he does, he finds the tapes from his house, giving him reason to suspect Amanda wasn’t behind his house burning down.

Daniel in prison

Daniel gets released from prison and put on house arrest, which is cause for celebration. But Mason’s blog post questions the hooded man theory and rids the prosecution of its key witness, giving the defense absolutely nothing to work with. Jack asked Nolan to get more information about the wire transfer. Nolan feeds him the information that the transfer was to Amanda’s account and the bank is in Canada. He tells Jack to go find Amanda and the truth. Emily, on the other hand, goes on a completely self-serving mission to hunt down the shady man that Victoria uses for her more nefarious errands. Emily uses the opportunity to beat the man up “for Jack” and get a mold of his key. I wonder what she’ll use that for.

With the defense now grasping for straws, Queen Victoria suggests to Daniel that they turn the tables on the owner of the gun, which is Emily. Daniel doesn’t like that and threatens to confess to everything if Emily is brought into this. Loyal to a fault. I wonder how they’ll spin their defense now.

Quotes

Charlotte: “You’re just another puppet in the Grayson family play and it’s time for your exit.” (Clever way to break up with someone)

Emily: “What do you want?”
Nolan: “World peace but let’s start small.”
