revenge recapping: resurrection

Previously on Revenge: Destiny

With dreams of her father at bay, now Emily is haunted by dreams of her mother. As Nolan wakes her from the nightmare, she chokes him, just like any normal person would do…right?

Daniel and Conrad

Oh dad, you are such an a**hole.

Emily fell asleep while keeping her eye on Victoria, thought I can’t imagine much would’ve happened, but I can understand her vigilance. Daniel also seems to be exhibiting his own Emily-style scheming as he crunches the numbers of his father’s account. He ponders over the inflation and where the money that is supposed to be in the account is going to come from. But as always, Daniel doesn’t reach his conclusion fast enough and not without Emily’s help. As Daniel comes to Charlotte’s rescue, his father is already draining her accounts for the money the company no longer has, but needs. Still he makes a good move by giving her all of his trust.

Jack’s question about the paternity is answered: he is the father. Though Emily lies to Amanda and tells her she had to to fix the results. Nolan, who apparently has owned a multi-billion dollar company this whole time, is facing an audit (BTW, I knew about his company, it’s just that he never does anything that looks like a job!) So he is forced to appoint a CFO and he chooses an outspoken woman, Padma (played by Dilshad Vadsaria, Greek), who forced him into making the decision in the first place.

Charlotte and Victoria planned to run away with Charlotte’s money, but once she no longer has it there is only one option. Victoria lets Conrad in on her alive status and drags him into helping her out of hiding. Conrad takes her up on this plan for several reasons, including the fact that he gets to punch her in the face.

Emily surprised

Wtf is going on?

Emily, continuously on the Graysons’ tail, particularly Charlotte’s (at the moment), misses Victoria and Conrad’s plot, but catches wind anyway as Charlotte fills her in. Falling ever so slightly behind, but not far enough behind that she can’t make something good out of the mess. The white haired man contacts her immediately, and Emily offers up the footage, for a price. The price, which I think is very fair, is the story of what happened to her mother. But before they get to the nail-biting end (did she live or die???) the while haired man attacks Emily and forces her Emily’s shadow/protector/white knight to act. Emily lives, the white haired man is shot (probably dead) and the story remains untold.

Predictions/Expectations

  • The white knight returns, it won’t take long before things heat up.
  • Nolan will be a bit jealous at Emily’s new, aptly skilled sidekick, once she chooses to accept him.
  • Jack will continue his role as the good guy, while secretly longing for Emily.
  • Declan is going to realize he is an idiot for holding anything for anyone….ever!
  • Oh and I was right about the next time he played white knight to her damsel in distress…

Quotes

Nolan: “I don’t think my employees have any respect for me.”
Emily: “Why would they, you’re not wearing pants.”

Conrad:“So it’s true, even the devil himself didn’t want you.”

Amanda: “Looks like the bitch is back.”

Kristen is a confused young adult who sometimes thinks TV shows are actually her life. Wouldn’t that be cool? Unless she was a victim on Dexter, or a deranged privileged teenager on gossip girl, or a wolf on teen wolf, or Liz Lemon! Never mind. It wouldn’t be cool. Kristen is a young adult. revenge recapping: chaos

Previously on Revenge: Perception

Charlotte and Declan

And we begin the episode the same way we began the series. Flash to 24 hours earlier. Nolan and Emily are frantically searching for the Infinity box in Amanda’s hotel room, but it’s no where to be found. Luckily (or maybe not) Tyler calls to let them know that it’s in his possession, Amanda too. Not what I expected, actually maybe even better. Tyler informs Amanda that Emily is not who she thinks and kicks the infinity box her way. Amanda begins digging. Amidst the planning of the engagement party Daniel has a meeting with his grandfather about taking over the company. Daniel, in his usual form, informs the wrong person of the wrong thing. Shorty after their meeting, grandpa pounces on a hurting Charlotte bribing her with Declan’s admittance into prep school in exchange for not going to a therapist.

Nolan, Ashley, Emily

Tyler and Emily set up an exchange. Emily will hand over cash, Tyler will hand over the infinity box and Amanda will be released into the wild. In typical fashion Emily takes over the exchange and zip ties Tyler to the fence. She searches her infinity box to make sure everything is in there. Her diligence is forgotten for a moment and Amanda ambushes her. Tyler and Amanda get away with the money, Amanda’s gun, and her infinity box. Emily arrives home to Nolan who is uneasy about Tyler’s sudden reappearance. But before the two can discuss Jack shows up with news. He’ll be leaving for Port Au Prince tonight and he needs Emily to take care of Sammy. Nolan suggests that Emily run away with him, but she can’t leave behind her path of revenge so easily. Plus she has to protect Daniel and the other innocent people at the party.

Amanda wonders about Tyler’s motive and he tells her about Emily framing him for Frank’s murder, which, as we all should remember, was actually committed by Amanda. Amanda realizes that Emily was protecting her and regret flashes in her eyes. Tyler insists that Amanda accompany him to the party, but she refuses and slashes him in the head with a hanger. Then runs all the way to Jack’s sailboat for a quick rendezvous. As she leaves him to go collect her stuff, Jack finds blood on his hands and chases after Amanda.

On the Beach

At the party Emily receives the gift she’s always wanted (the infinity box) from her mentor. She buries it on the beach and Daniels finds her afterwards, asking her to run away with him to Paris. Her response is not what Daniel expected, but exactly what Queen Victoria said she would say. Daniel is disappointed and sulks off down the beach while Amanda returns to the party. While brooding and watching the waves crash Tyler shows up and ruins Daniels moment. Tyler is revealing everything, while holding Daniel at gun point. Declan and Charlotte are scurrying off from a midnight swim and Jack has followed Amanda to the beach. He hears gun shots and runs after her only to find she is hovering over a shot Daniel. The noble man that he is, he tells Amanda to run and pulls Daniel off to the side. Amanda abandons him and falls into the capable hands of Emily’s mentor. Charlotte’s scream cut through the touching speech Queen Victoria was giving and everyone runs to the beach. As Queen Victoria sobs over the body of her son, she turns him over to reveal that the body isn’t Daniel’s. A confused Daniel wanders upon the scene. Queen Victoria gratefully hugs him and whispers sternly “Don’t say a word.”

Thoughts/Predictions

  • This show continues to make me gasp aloud.
  • I don’t even know what’s gonna happen, though I have a vague idea of what went down on the beach.

Quotes

Nolan: “Sail away. Fall in love. Go make little volunteer babies.”

Victoria: “One day you may or may not become Daniel’s wife but I will always be his mother.”

Emily: “The best way to fight chaos is with chaos.”

revenge recapping: commitment

Previously on Revenge: Infamy

Queen Victoria and Her Lawyer

Emily reveals what she has learned about Charlotte to Nolan. Who immediately wonders if this will make Emily change her plans. Emily doesn’t think Charlotte being her sister will complicate the matter. In an act of gratitude, Mr. Grayson will be sending Declan to Charlotte’s private school, though this means he’ll actually have to read Paradise Lost without falling asleep.

During breakfast Mr. Grayson receives a USB with a note that says “Open in Private”. Thunder crack and cue dramatic music. This storm seems to be foreboding something big. Emily is scheming to get Amanda out of town and places the videos she stole from Mason’s house in Emily’s bag. The battle begins as the storm continues to brew and King Conrad shows Queen Victoria what was on that USB: the video of David confessing that Charlotte was most likely his.

Looks like Queen Victoria’s legs were cut out from under her, courtesy of Emily Thorne. King Conrad gets set for a DNA test and Queen Victoria gets set for a tea with Amanda. The result of the DNA test, King Conrad is not Charlotte’s father. The results of the tea: Victoria plays a good game, serving strawberries to Amanda, who should be allergic, but no longer is, since she’s not really Amanda.  The showdown between the two proves to be interesting because Amanda has no reason to kiss Victoria’s ass. It’s the kind of showdown I’ll expect from Emily and Victoria once all is found out, except multiplied by ten, and there should be some kind of explosion. Amanda’s spoon is collected for DNA testing.

Daniel Proposes

King Conrad and Queen Victoria face off again and King Conrad gives her two options: She agrees to his terms or they go to court and everything is exposed. King Conrad tells Charlotte that she has to move back in with her mother. Which obviously upsets Charlotte, and I’m surprised. King Conrad should relish the fact that this girl, who isn’t even technically his, prefers him to her flesh and blood mother. But instead he focuses on his own pride and pain in learning the truth. Daniel sets up an elaborate proposal on the boat where he and Emily first met. And as it starts to pour he pulls out an umbrella gets down on one knee and proposes. Emily says yes….duh. Queen Victoria takes the news horribly, but covers it up as well as she can, with a distinct air of perfected fakery. When Daniel tells his Dad, who calls it out as a plan, Daniel learns a little too much about life and how much it sucks. And the results are in: Amanda Clarke’s DNA matches Charlotte’s and I’m guessing there’s something we don’t know.

Queen Victoria and Daniel

Charlotte shows up at Emily’s for sister bonding time! Well not really, but still. Jack gets beaten up by a man sent by Queen Victoria to retrieve the tapes. Nolan blames Emily for Jack being beaten up. Emily tells Nolan that was never her intention, Nolan doesn’t seem to care. Emily has a meeting under the docks with…wait for it…Victoria’s ex-lawyer. Wait? What?! Yup that’s right.

Victoria’s ex-lawyer has been helping Emily all along. Ahhh so that’s how the DNA results between fake Amanda and her half sister were forged. Lawyer man says he always believed David was innocent but he tells Emily she may want to reassess what she’s doing. Emily visits Jack’s bedside and apologizes to a peacefully sleeping Jack. Then she confesses everything to Amanda and asks her to save herself, and Jack, by leaving.

Daniel asks Queen Victoria to tell him the truth. Queen Victoria tells him that Charlotte’s father is not Conrad, but David Clarke. Daniel seems appalled and assumes that the sex was forced. Q.V. doesn’t correct him, but she does encourage this thought. Emily finds Nolan sulking on the beach and tells him she’s going to press pause on the revenge. But Emily soon finds the conviction to continue her plot for revenge when she learns that Queen Victoria is now claiming David Clarke raped her. Full steam ahead.

Thoughts/Predictions

  • Emily’s wavering commitment, though now reaffirmed, seems too easily swayed by her allies, could this be a weakness in the future?
  • The infamous engagement party where we started is just around the corner, could it be that another player in the scheme is responsible for the shooting?
  • Amanda may be gone for now, but it won’t be long before she is back. Same goes for Tyler.

Quotes

Conrad: “You’re going to be back to Victoria Harper. Which will only be fitting considering you’ll once again be the desperate, penniless little bitch you were when I first met you.”

Ashley: “I’m going to go to the loo and drown myself in it.”
Emily: “It isn’t really our choices that distinguish who we are. It’s our commitment to them.”
