The family is taking a trip to Disneyland. Claire reminds Jay that he cried during their last visit, and Jay tells us the entire story throughout the episode. They were supposed to go as an entire family, but he and Didi (his ex) got into a fight because he taped over an episode of Dallas. So she stayed home and Jay took Claire and Mitchell without her. The whole trip was laced with revelations about his marriage to Didi and how it wasn’t working for him. But by the end of the trip, while watching the robot Abe Lincoln, he realized that he would have to stick it out anyway, for his kids.

Claire, who sees a lot of herself in Haley, is worried about her choice in men, so she tries to set her up with her friend’s nephew. Haley find him cute but he’s not enough to make her stop thinking of Dylan. Especially when Dylan shows up at Disneyland. Alex however is completely smitten by him. Phil and Luke had plans to ride all the roller coasters but after one ride Phil is feeling so sick. He worries that he’s just getting too old for this. Turns out, lucky for him, it’s just a flu.

Mitchell and Cam are having trouble with Lily who seems to be going through a phase where she runs away all the time, so for the trip to Disneyland they put her on a leash. Of course everyone mocks them and they feel weird about having their child on a leash, so they let her off and she bolts. Jay however has an idea. After watching Gloria struggle to walk around the park in high heel shoes he buys her a pair of Minnie Mouse slippers. So to get Lily to stop running away he buys her a pair of glass slippers and she can no longer run away.
